The annual conference of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development of the American Hospital Association (SHSMD) is now complete and from my perspective, it was a huge success. Holding the conference in Nashville was a stroke of genius. Nashville is such a great town and the Music City Convention Center is amazing. Congrats to the staff and volunteers from SHSMD who made the conference such an overwhelming success.
I was also impressed with the Twitter activity surrounding the conference. A total of 444 people tweeted using the official #SHSMD19 hashtag over the five days of the conference and generated 3,035 tweets. In all, Twitter activity accounted for more than 13 million potential impressions.
Heading into this conference, we were following a record-setting level of Twitter activity for the 2018 conference. So, I was not confident we would be able to surpass that. But on several metrics, the 2019 Twitter activity did manage to exceed the levels set in 2018. There were slightly fewer tweets in 2019 (200 fewer) but we had an 11% increase in participants tweeting (from 397 to 444) and greater total impressions. Frankly, I am thrilled that we had more people tweeting using the #SHSMD19 hashtag. That is a success! Below are graphics that depict some of the Twitter analytics and influencer data.
