I’m not one of those people who collects quotes, unless they are from Winnie the Pooh or Piglet. In fact, I can’t recall seeing a quote that made me want to feature it within my blog – until today. The quote below is from Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot (The Widow Cliquot), the supreme business woman of the 19th Century. I’m am drawn to smart, powerful women, and she fits the bill. And she shared my love for Champagne. Her story is remarkable. She is credited with developing the modern Champagne Industry. Here’s some background on Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot from an article in Smithsonian: “”From risking her inheritance on a failing business to gambling her champagne against a naval blockade, Barbe-Nicole built her champagne empire on bold decisions, a business model she never regretted.” (Source: “The Widow Who Created The Champagne Industry,” Smithsonian, November 5, 2013)
Here’s the quote from this amazing 19th Century business woman:
“The world is in perpetual motion, and we must invent the things of tomorrow. One must go before others, be determined and exacting, and let your intelligence direct your life. Act with audacity.” Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot
That seems like great advice for those of us who work in healthcare in the 21st Century!
