
On February 18, 2021, at 10:30AM, the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo) will present a webinar on the subject of health disparities and inequities. If you read this blog regularly, you already know that these are topics close to my heart. Below are a couple of excerpts from the NESHCo write-up about the webinar:
“While already a focus within many healthcare organizations, the coronavirus pandemic put a spotlight on healthcare disparities, both due to the significantly greater toll the pandemic is taking on communities of color and the reluctance among some segments of the population to take the vaccine. Better understanding the causes of health disparities and strategies being employed to address them can equip us to more effectively address disparities in our own communities.”
“In this webinar, you will hear from people closely engaged with communities of color about potential blind-spots among the healthcare community with regard to healthcare disparities and learn about some efforts to address healthcare disparities that have worked well, some that haven’t, and what sets each apart.”
