Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the importance of volunteering and supporting industry associations. Over the last week, I’ve had a SHSMD committee meeting for their Digital Engagement Taskforce, a NESHCo Board meeting, a NESHCo executive committee meeting and conference planning meeting, a HITMC Conference planning meeting, and a CHPRMS board meeting which I missed due to a scheduling conflict. That’s a lot of volunteer time on top of my full-time job.
Supporting these organizations is really important and a good thing to do. My advice is to only volunteer if you are going to live up to the expectations. Too many people serve on committees and boards but never contribute. That is not okay. Check out my video on this subject.
