An Impromptu #HCLDR/#HIT/#Pinksocks Gathering in Austin

One of the best things about attending the Annual Healthcare Marketing and Physician Strategies Summit this week was that I got to present with one of my favorite people – Colin Hung, #HIT100 community member and the founder and co-moderator of the #HCLDR Twitter Chat and Online Community. We also had a great co-presenter in Cindy Gavin of Let’s Win! Colin, Cindy and I presented on Monday afternoon.

At noon on Tuesday, we had an impromptu #HCLDR, #HIT, #HealthIT and #PinkSocks gathering in the lobby of the JW Marriott in Austin. It was awesome that #HCLDR members from Texas made the trip to Austin to hang out with us. Finally meeting people in real life that you’ve only know through Twitter is such a special thing. In this case, both Colin and I got to meet the co-moderator of the #HCLDR Chat, Joe Babaian. We’ve both known Joe for years and it was amazing to actually meet him in person. Below are some photos from that gathering. You’ll notice that we are modeling our pink socks!

Later that evening, Colin and I attended the weekly #HCLDR Twitter Chat from the 3rd floor seating area of the JW Marriott Austin. We invited other conference attendees to join us. It was great to see a few folks show up and join us for their first exposure to the #HCLDR chat. This is the second time I’ve done the chat from a conference and Tweeted with a group of conference attendees (we did it from SHSMD last year), and it is so much fun to have people to interact with in person as we blaze through the chat. Below are a couple of snaps from that gathering. If you’re interested in joining the chat, it takes place every Tuesday evening at 8:30 pm eastern.

Here are the Twitter Analytics for last night’s #HCLDR Chat that I pulled from Symplur. These represent Twitter activity using the #HCLDR hashtag for a three hour period around the chat (one hour before and one hour after). Although the chat is only scheduled for one hour, the regulars tend to show up early and keep the conversation going well after the chat has officially wrapped up. Feel free to check out the #HCLDR blog to get a feel for the type of topics we cover each week. This is a very welcoming group and I definitely encourage you to check out one of the weekly chats.
