Last weekend my wife and I attended a Body, Mind & Spirit Expo in Raleigh. It is fascinating to attend one of these events. It seems as though there are people with booths set up representing every esoteric healing modality known. And there are tons of attendees who are willing to pay the $10 fee to gain access to these practitioners. These people are hungry for answers; they seek wellness, an end to pain, a path to good health and alternatives to the answers provided (or not provided) by traditional medicine. On this particular day they were turning to chiropractors, psychic healers, body workers (therapeutic massage), aromatherapy, magnetic therapy, power foods and a variety of anti-aging therapies including one using volcanic mud.
The next time someone infers that people aren’t interested in health, I suggest you take it with a grain of salt. Large numbers of people are seeking health information and solutions online and at health expos around the country. It is up to us to find meaningful ways to engage these people and interest them in what we’ve got to share. They are waiting for us to be relevant.
