A Bad Ad: The Triangle Vein Clinic

My daughter was going through our mail the other day and immediately reacted (negatively) to a direct mail postcard from Triangle Orthopaedic Associates (see below). She said: “You need to see these legs. They’re stretched. It’s disgusting. They think this looks good?” Then she brought the postcard over to me (I was watching Football) and I had to agree with her.

A few people really screwed up when they created and then approved this postcard. Did no one notice the freakishly long Tibia and Fibula? These are supposed to be orthopaedic specialists. Click on the image to see it at full size.

Legs ad

I have not altered the image at all. I simply photographed it with my iPhone. Look at how long and stretched out the legs are. Notice the woman’s right foot. Whoever created the postcard stretched the image horizontally to create this distorted image. What amazes me is that someone approved this postcard and allowed it to be mailed out to households in the region.

It’s ironic that the headline on the front of the postcard reads, “Your Legs Have Never Looked and Felt So Good.” Well, healthcare marketing has never looked so bad. For reference, here’s what legs look like when they haven’t been distorted:
