This Week: Blogging and Tweeting Live from NESHCo

Later today, marketers from hospitals and healthcare organizations across New England will converge on Boston to attend the Spring Symposium of the New England Society for Healthcare Communications. Not only is this one of my favorite events, but this year it happens to take place in one of my favorite cities. It doesn’t get much better than that.

As always I’ll be tweeting throughout the conference (it runs through Friday) and I’m sure I’ll find the time to write a blog post or two.

This year I am honored to have been invited to speak on two different topics:

  • Thursday 3pm: Engaging Female Consumers Through Blogs and Social Media Channels
  • Friday 11am: Using New Media to Entice Referring Physicians.

My co-presenter on Thursday is Brooke Tyson Hynes of Tufts Medical Center. She’s a terrific presenter and my belief is that the audience is in for a treat. In addition to being a brilliant healthcare marketer, Brooke is the mother of two young children, so it is highly appropriate that she would be speaking on using blogs and social media to reach mothers. She has also championed the development of social media campaigns, anchored by mom blogs, to promote her organization’s affiliations with area community hospitals. We’ll feature two of those campaigns as case studies during our presentation.

The lineup of speakers for the conference looks terrific. I’d like to give a shout out to the organizers of the event: Deb Chiaravalloti (Anna Jaques Hospital), Paul Hopkins (Northern Bershire Healthcare), John Looney (Winchester Hospital), Lauren Smith (Fairview Hospital), and the ever amazing Kelly Woodsum who serves as the executive director of NESHCo.

Finally, on Thursday evening, NESHCo hosts the annual the Lamplighter Awards dinner, honoring the best healthcare communication in New England. Dewey Mooring (Jennings VP of Account Services) and I will be joined by a number of our clients as we recognize award winning advertising and marketing from New England healthcare organizations.

I hope to see you in Boston. If not, I’ll do my best to keep the information flowing so you can share the experience online.

Here are some of the #NESHCo tweets that have come out leading up to the conference:
