Today I will be tweeting and perhaps blogging from the Spring Conference of the Virginia Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations (VSHMPR). The conference is taking place at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. It’s actually a three day affair, but I can only make it for Thursday when most of the sessions are taking place.
Two of the presenters I am looking forward to seeing are Anne West and David Marlowe. Both of them are highly respected professionals with great credentials. I’ve known David for a few years now and he was kind enough to join my online healthcare marketing community a couple of years ago. David runs Strategic Marketing Concepts, a consulting firm based in Maryland. His presentation is titled “Marketing Accountability: The Realities and the Impact on Marketing’s Role in Providing Strategic Leadership.” I expect to learn a great deal from David’s talk. Anne West runs Strategic Communication Counsel, an Atlanta-based consulting firm. She was formerly the VP of Marketing and Public Relations for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the country’s largest pediatric health system. Anne’s presentation is titled “Got Creativity? Capture It!”
The other benefit of attending the conference, if only for one day, is the opportunity to reconnect with the healthcare marketers from Virginia. This is a great group of professionals and they have always made me feel welcome. Frankly, I’d like to see more hospital marketing professionals from Virginia get involved in the organization. Their participation would help make it an even more vibrant organization. Hopefully an improving economy will serve as an impetus to drive membership.
I hope to see you at the conference!
